I am the Workforce Development Manager here at High Sierra AHEC. I grew up in central California in a small farm town and relocated to Las Vegas where I attended middle and high school. I moved to Reno for my undergraduate career at the University of Nevada and have been living here since 2012. I grew up with a passion for healthcare, but nothing quite clicked for me until I began studying healthcare at a population level. I discovered my love of public health while in school and have been working in the public health field since graduating with my Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Sciences.
I have worked in both the nonprofit and State government sector of public health, mainly within the world of immunizations. I am passionate about connecting members of the community to health services and aim to eliminate barriers for people to live their healthiest and happiest lives. This transition over to workforce development is an exciting opportunity for me and I appreciate how important it is to inspire the next generation to do amazing things in the healthcare space. I am a mission-driven person and find joy in knowing my work makes a positive difference in the lives of others.
In my personal life, I enjoy baking all kinds of sweet treats, hanging out with friends and family (and our adorable dog Peanut), traveling with my husband Jake, and you can always find me with my next race planned - whether that be the Reno Tahoe Odyssey with my friends or a half marathon in a new city.
