TAYLER MACHADO

Hey there! I’m Tayler, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator at High Sierra AHEC. Born and raised in Northern California, I returned to Reno in late 2024 to continue my education after overcoming a rare form of stage four cancer. Fueled by renewed ambition and a zest for life, I dove back into my studies, earning my Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Nevada, Reno. In August 2025, I began my Master of Public Health with a focus on Social and Behavioral Health. I’m passionate about advancing evidence-based approaches in health policy and practice and look forward to continuing my academic journey through doctoral studies and postgraduate research.

 

Through my studies, I began my journey with High Sierra AHEC as a Social Media & Communications Intern. Following my internship, I was fortunate to transition into the role of Marketing & Communications Coordinator, where I collaborate with teams and partners to develop strategies and materials that showcase our programs, events, and the wide range of opportunities available across our digital platforms. In this role, I focus on expanding our visibility, promoting our mission, and building lasting connections within the community.

 

Outside of school and work, I thrive on curiosity and new experiences. I love meeting people, trying new things, and sharing laughs and meaningful conversations. Animals, especially dogs, have always been a huge part of my life, and these days I spend most of my time with my sweet and sassy 14-year-old childhood dog, who joined me when I moved back to Reno and is loving city life (especially the endless supply of people to bark at). In my free time, I enjoy exploring thrift shops, watching hockey, relaxing at the beach, attending music festivals, and escaping to my favorite place, San Diego!
